2022 ARBA Show at Komoka

Our final ARBA show for this season was at Komoka, just outside of London, ON. This was the biggest showing of English Angora people so far this year! We had a total of 7 exhibitors come out handling 11 rabbits. Two people were brand new to showing and one was new to ARBA shows having participated in Dominion shows before. It is very nice to see the local competition field growing in our breed! We were joined by show veterans Julie and Mary.

It was a beautiful day for grooming

I travelled to the show with 4 contenders:
Electric Wario, 10 mo old Black buck
BerMah Miew Miew, 8mo old Blue Tort doe
BerMah Maurice, 7mo old REW buck
Electric Iroc, 6mo old REW buck

All together, we had a total of 11 English Angoras and 7 exhibitors competing:
2 Sr colored bucks (including Electric Wario)
4 Sr colored does (including BerhMah MiewMiew)
2 Jr colored does (including BerMah Morel, a Jr Black doe handled by Julie)
2 Sr white bucks (BerMah Maurice and Electric Iroc)
1 Sr white doe (Maurice's sister, BerhMah MyMy)

This show really demonstrated how much tables can turn from one show to another and how much the development of the rabbits can change within just one month. One month for an angora coat can make a big difference depending on the quality of the grooming and maturation of the coat.

The judge for our first show (show C) was Tom Schweikart from PA.
Colored BOV was won by BerMah Miew Miew with Electric Wario taking opposite.
White BOV was won by Electric Iroc with Maurice's sister taking opposite.
Best of Breed went to BerMah Miew Miew and Electric Wario took opposite.

Judging our 2nd show (show A) was Joel Marshall from IL.
Colored BOV was won by BerhMah MiewMiew with Electric Wario taking opposite.
White BOV was won by Electric Iroc with Maurice's sister taking opposite.
Best of Breed went to BerhMah Miew Miew and Electric Iroc took opposite.

Judging our 3rd show (show B) was Joe Colucci from OH.
Colored BOV was won by BerMah Miew Miew with Electric Wario taking opposite.
White BOV was won by Maurice's sister with Electric Iroc taking opposite.
Best of Breed went to BerMah Miew Miew and Electric Iroc took opposite.

I am so ridiculously proud of Iroc! Not only did he beat a doe in two of the shows which is a feat for a buck since does normally have much denser coats. The doe that he did beat was Maurice's siter, BerhMah MyMy who last month at the Spencerville show was awarded Best of Breed in 2 of the 3 shows and then went on to win Best in Show as well as Reserve in Show! She was a very highly competitive and stunning rabbit so the bar was raised very high here.

BerMah Miew Miew - Show A: BOV BOB, Show B: BOV BOB, Show C: BOV BOB
Electric Iroc - Show A: BOV BOSB, Show B: BOSV BOSB, Show C: BOV
Electric Wario - Show A: BOSV, Show B: BOSV, Show C: BOSV BOSB

A Komoka Halloween legend was also born this weekend. Yes we had a lot of fun at this show! Meet Matt Pheonix the Frankenangora who will rise from the fibre ashes of his groomed brethren at each show to haunt the judges tables! [insert scary spooky sounds]. Credit to the mad scientist Zehara :)
